U.S. TV show. Host: Felipe Luciano. "Shades of Soul, Part I." Guests: Latin musicians Tito Puente and Willie Colon accompanied by their orchestras. Music includes: Tito Puente & His Orchestra: "Para Los Rumberos." Tito Puente & His Orchestra with Frankie Figueroa: "Tus Ojos," and "Nina Y Senora." Willie Color & His Orchestra with Hector Lavoe: "Aguanile," "Sigue Feliz," and "Demalano." Plus, a film clip of "Our Latin Thing," interview with Tito Puente. Also, Felipe Luciano is interviewed and discusses Latin music and the evolution of Afro-Cuban music in New York City. Willie Colon is interviewed.

U.S. TV show. Host: Gerry Bledsoe. "Shades of Soul, Part II." Guests: Musician Mongo Santamaria and group, and The LaBelle Trio. Mongo Santamaria performs selections from his Atlantic LP Up From The Roots: "Boulevard of the Soul," "Julio's Tune," "Springtime," "Watch Out." LaBelle performs: "I Believe That I've Finally Made It Home," "Touch Me All Over," "Four Women," and "Won't Get Fooled Again."

U.S. TV show. Host: Gerry Bledsoe. "Journey to the Sun." Actor Ron O’Neal; Singer/songwriter Zulema; and funk-jazz ensemble Black Heat, featuring David "Fathead" Newman. Zulema: "If This World Were Mine," "This Child of Mine," "Maybe I'm Amazed," and "Close to You." Black Heat: "Chips Funk," "Street of Tears," "You'll Never Know," and "The Jungle." Actor Ron O’Neal talks about his film Superfly and his acting career and how so-called friends treat him now that he has success.

Taj Mahal: "Thumb Piano," "Ricochet," "Cakewalk Into Town," "Sweet Home Chicago." Exuma: "Brown Girl," "Attica," "Pay Me What You Owe Me," "Empty Barrels," and others. Film clips from the film Sounder. Cicely Tyson is interviewed about her appearance in the film and black hair style culture. Taj Mahal is interviewed and talks about his scoring of the film Sounder.
