MEGATON YE-YE 1965
ES film. This Spanish youth culture and rock 'n' roll film was highly influential in 1965 Spain; many kids saw the film several times and it influenced their taste in music, fashion and helped them evaluate their place in Spanish society. The film borrows from Richard Lester's pseudo-documentary and cinematic style as seen in the Beatles' A Hard Day's Night.

The plot follows two story lines; a young couple meet and fall in love and the British beat-inspired band, Micky and the Tonys pursuit of rock 'n' roll success. Look for performance scenes with wildly dancing teenagers, record store, mod/pop art set decorations, Vespa scooter riding, Fender guitars, Vox amps, beat groups the 5 Shakers, Micky y los Tony's, and more.

Songs include: "Megaton Ye-Ye," "Sha-La," "I Am Over," "Pretty Baby," "Tu Sera's Muy Feliz," "Tu' Ya No Esta's," "Sulpher Soap," "Un Bel Amour." Starring: María José Goyanes, Gloria Cámara, Álvaro de Luna, Enrique Navarro, José Luis Uribarri. [In Spanish. No Subtitles.]

MEXICAN TEEN FILM EXCERPTS 1960s
The "best scenes" from several 1960s Mexican youth culture films are edited together. Scenes include: A shapely, long legged, dark-haired beauty in fishnet stockings sings and dances to Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66. A groovy discothèque scene has all the patrons dancing to some weedy-sounding rock and roll with a cool Vox organ. Then a motorcycle roars into the club and a go-go girl sings an extended version of, "Hang On Sloopy." Lots more!
