THE COMPANY SHE KEEPS 1951
U.S. film. Bad girl/woman in prison. Film noir. Lizabeth Scott is a truly nice parole office but is shafted by one of her parolees. Released from prison after serving two years for check-forging, Mildred Lynch changes her name to Diane Stuart (Jane Greer) and moves to Los Angeles.

Parole officer Joan Willburn (Lizabeth Scott) finds Diane a job at a hospital. Diane repays Joan by stealing her boyfriend, Larry Collins (Dennis O'Keefe), after he comes to the hospital to visit a patient. Diane hides the relationship from Joan and hides her criminal past from Larry. When Joan finds out, she affably accepts the relationship and her loss of Larry but cautions Diane that to get married, she must first request approval from the parole board, which will be under a legal obligation to contact Larry.

Despite all of Joan's kindness and help, Diane accuses her of trying to sabotage her parole and romance. In the end, Diane is arrested for a drug theft at the hospital for which her friend and ex-convict Tilly Thompson is responsible. What will parole officer Joan Willburn do?
