Double Feature!
EL VEZ — EL REY DE ROCK N ROLL 2000
U.S. documentary. The fascinating story behind the rise of El Vez, the Mexican Elvis! From humble beginnings in San Diego, CA to conquering the world of hip! He takes Elvis songs and rewrites the words to incorporate messages of Mexican history, immigration, safe sex and worker's rights.
El Vez started as Robert Lopez and played in new wave bands in late 1970s San Diego. During his formative years he couldn't afford to hand out scarves to his adoring fans so he'd hand out Kleenex!
Film includes concert footage, rare TV interviews and new interviews for this documentary. As he says, ""When you come to an El Vez show, you walk away proud to be a Mexican, even when you're not." Tons of songs including, "En El Barrio," "Chihuahua," "Lordy Miss Lupe," "Say It Loud! I'm Brown and I'm Proud," "Immigration Time," "Si, I'm a Lowrider."
Plus this bonus selection...
ELVIS STORIES 1988
U.S. film. Hilarious Elvis parody in a "National Inquirer" type presentation. Not mocking the king—just having fun. Proof that Elvis and John Lennon where the same person! Great! John Cusack, Jeremy Piven, Andy Dick, Joel Murray, Mojo Nixon, Rick "Elvis" Saucedo, Ben Stiller.
