MAKING THE MONKEES 2007
U.K. documentary. This is an exceptionally good documentary on the early history of the Monkees that provides lots of good "inside" information told by the people who were there in the 1960s.

Listening to Don Kirshner tell his side of the story along with the Monkees, and Mike Nesmith in particular, who present their version of events, it becomes clear that both sides could have behaved better. It's easy to side with the Monkees and dislike Don Kirshner, but Kirshner makes some good arguments about his role and his successes for the group.

Still, we love the Monkees, their music, and recognize that their story is utterly fascinating. Interviews include Bob Rafelson, Don Kirshner, Mike Nesmith, Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, Bobby Hart, Jeff Barry, Eric Lefkowitz and Andrew Sandoval.

U.K. documentary. A different take on the Monkees story, this time we hear from lifelong fans, some of whom met the Monkees in the 1960s. Excellent Monkees Documentary Review by Christopher

This documentary on the Monkees is excellent. Tells the story of how the show started and all the tensions that arose between themselves and producer Don Kirschner. I looked all around for this documentary but this was the only website that sells it. It also has a bonus documentary of how popular the Monkees were in England and girls that went crazy over them.
