DAVID BOWIE - FIVE YEARS
U.K. documentary. 71·75·77·80·83. A unique documentary covering five of the most important, non-consecutive, years of Bowie's career. Contains a wealth of previously unseen archive footage. Lots of behind-the-scenes, music videos, live performances, Bowie interviews, and anecdotes by many musicians and collaborators. Very interesting to see Bowie evolve from Ziggy Stardust to the Soul Star of Young Americans, to the "Thin White Duke."

There is some unexpected footage, like a sequence of Bowie filmed at Andy Warhol's Factory, a coked-out interview with Dick Cavett and more. The structure of Five Years makes it a lot more interesting than your traditional pop documentary. David Bowie, Mick Ronson, Brian Eno, Tony Visconti, Robert Fripp, Nile Rodgers, Angie Bowie, Rick Wakeman, Ken Scott, Camille Paglia, Carlos Alomar, Ava Cherry, Earl Slick.

Plus these bonus selections...

THE GENIUS OF DAVID BOWIE
U.K. TV. Archive footage of some of David Bowie's most famous songs, as well as associated acts Mott the Hoople, Lou Reed, Lulu and Iggy Pop. Complete song performances. Songs include: Space Oddity, Oh! You Pretty Things, Life On Mars, Queen Bitch, Starman, All The Young Dudes, Ziggy Stardust, The Jean Genie, Perfect Day, Rebel Rebel, The Man Who Sold The World, Heroes, Lust For Life, Boys Keep Swinging, Fashion, Let's Dance, Hello Spaceboy, Ashes To Ashes.

DEATH IS THEIR DESTINY 1978-1981
U.K. super-8 home movie footage. By day Phil Munnoch was a mild-mannered copywriter working for an ad agency in the heart of the London. After work Phil would change into tight fitting bondage trousers, studded dog collar and badge-covered plastic jacket to become his punk alter ego, Captain Zip. Captain Zip hung out with the other punks who idly wandered up and down the King’s Road every evening.

In the guise of Captain Zip, Munnoch documented the street life of punks on the King's Road. In the 1980s, he collected the first eight of these Super-8 home movies together to make this short documentary film that captures the original London punk subculture.
