U.K. Taken from newsreels, TV news, and other sources. You'll see lots of terrific 1966 footage from the U.K. perspective. Discotheques, fashions, pop art, music, fads, mods, rockers, hippies, and more! A "Happening" called: the Psychedelic Dream takes place while the 117 Group plays a psychedelic song.

Color footage of Carnaby Street shows the hip and happening youth dressed in their wildest '66 fashions patronizing the local shops. Groovy fashion shows with go-go girls in mini-skirts and rock and roll groups. At the London Playboy Club, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich perform, "Bend It" while the mod patrons show their moves. Prime Minister Harold Wilson visits Liverpool's Cavern Club with Jimmy Savile and Ken Dodd on hand. Mr. Wilson presents a special plaque to the Cavern and then local beat group, the Hideaways, begin to play while the crowd shakes and shimmies. The Beatles return to London from their final tour and the kids jam Heathrow airport and go wild. Crazy kids climb the fountain in Trafalgar Square.

Mary Quant in her design studio. Mary Quant's fashion show goes to Australia. British film and TV stars. On the set of TV's Avengers. David McCallum from the Man from UNCLE drives the English kids wild! Youth protesting politics and war. Royal Air Force air show. The Queen visits the Concord assembly plant. The Queen presides over the state opening of Parliament and visits Trinidad and Tobago. Prince Charles, at 18, travels to Australia to finish school.

The Earls Court Motor Show displays the colorful and stylish new motorcars for ’66, like the Triumph GT-6. Hollywood celebrities meet the Queen; an odd sight seeing Woody Allen bow for the Queen. Billie Jean King at Wimbledon. England beats Germany at Wembley and wins the World Cup. Songs by: the Troggs, Petula Clark, Spencer Davis Group, the Kinks, Alan Price, Chris Montez, Dusty Springfield.

WHAT IS A HAPPENING? 1967
U.K. documentary. A look at the Apr-26-67, 14-Hour Technicolor Dream held in Alexandra Palace, London which was a blend of LSD, performance art, poetry and psychedelic rock music. Terrific footage of this "Be-In" event. A group called "The Flies" play, "Purple Haze" while go-go girls gyrate on stage. A lot of way-out, bizarre happenings!
