BLAST OF SILENCE 1961
U.S. film. Excellent quality. Neo-Noir set during Christmas 1959, Blast of Silence follows a hitman who returns to his NYC hometown to commit a murder for hire. Absolutely gorgeous black & white film footage of 1959-1960 New York City.
Most of the scenes were filmed in actual NYC locations without a filming permit. Some of the locations include Grand Central Station, Staten Island Ferry, Harlem, 125th Street, Apollo Theater, St. Mark’s Place, Village Gate nightclub, Rockefeller Center and many others.
The film was shot with equipment that had been abandoned in Cuba after the shooting of Errol Flynn's final film, Cuban Rebel Girls, when the crew was forced to flee the country because of the Cuban Revolution. Writer/director Allen Baron struck a deal with the producers of Cuban Rebel Girls to use the equipment if he could smuggle it out of Cuba.
Includes original theatrical film trailer. Allen Baron, Molly McCarthy, Larry Tucker, Peter H. Clune, Danny Meehan, Howard Mann, Charles Creasap, Bill DePrato, Milda Memenas.
