THE STERILE CUCKOO 1969
U.S. film. Mary Ann "Pookie" Adams is a quirky teenager and quite the oddball, but she's kinda fun. She divides the world into two categories; people like her (not many) and all the rest, who are weirdos! On her way to college Pookie meets level-headed Jerry Payne who is enrolling in a nearby college. Jerry sees that Pookie is a little strange when she lies to a nun on the bus so she can sit closer to him.

As Jerry settles into college life Pookie unexpectedly shows up and they spend the weekend together; before long they are seeing each other regularly.
Jerry slowly begins to fall in love with Pookie.

They attend a wild, crowded college party where beer is being poured onto people's heads while a rock band wails on fuzz guitar. Everybody's jumping around and Pookie, laughing with beer in hand, drunk and tightly pressed in the crowd, suddenly doesn't dig the scene and heads off to Jerry's dorm room. She creates a scene with Jerry's roommate where she shows she's too odd for her own good.

Jerry realizes they need time apart and he tells an upset Pookie. The soundtrack includes the song, "Come Saturday Morning" by the Sandpipers. The movie was filmed at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. Liza Minnelli, Wendell Burton, Tim McIntire.
