OZ: A ROCK 'N' ROLL ROAD MOVIE (a.k.a. 20TH CENTURY OZ) 1976
AUS film. L. Frank Baum's classic, "The Wizard of Oz" is given a rock and roll treatment—down-under style! (OZ…get it?) Dorothy is a ready-for-anything groupie who catches a ride in the back of a rock n roll group's van. The van crashes, Dorothy bumps her head and she wakes up in a fantasy world only to discover she accidentally killed the town hoodlum.

A flamingly-gay clothier called the Good Fairy gives her a special pair of red sparkle pumps as a reward and points her in the direction to see the final concert of the "Wizard." On her journey to see the Wizard, she befriends a dim-witted surfer, a heartless greaser, and a cowardly biker. There are several amusing scenes including; Dorothy uses the "magic" of her red sparkle shoes to kick a guy in the balls, and when she discovers the Wizard hiding behind a curtain—it ends up being a shower curtain—and she strips down and joins him.

The Wizard's final concert was shot at the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne as part of a real concert that featured AC/DC. Songs by Jo Jo Zep and the Falcons. Revealing window on mid-70s Australian youth culture. Joy Dunstan, Graham Matters, Bruce Spence, Michael Carman, Garry Waddell, Robin Ramsay, Paula Maxwell, Ned Kelly, Lorraine West.
