Sun Zhiqiang, a talented but delinquent drumming dockworker is discovered by Lizhen, manager of her band The Sparks, to replace drummer Charlie “Golden Arm” Zhao. The new drummer makes an immediate impression, earning him the nickname “Thunderbolt” but also the resentful anger of Charlie. This puts a dent in Zhiqiang's love life as he and Lizhen start falling for each other. Zhiqiang's mother is against her son getting involved in the music business.

This film is a standout from typical films focused on singers or dancers, in no small part due to the vibrant drumming performances by Ling and Chen. Lily Ho Li-Li, Ling Yun, Chen Hung-Lieh, Yang Fang, Angela Yu Chien, Cheng Wen-Ching, Chang Pei-Shan, Kao Pao-Shu, Wei Ping-Ao.
