American International Pictures (AIP) known by B-movie lovers for exploiting teenagers, juvenile delinquents, beach parties, hot rods, hippies, drugs, bikers and everything else, contributed to the Blaxploitation film cycle with these first-ever black horror films. Blacula Power! This title is comprised of two films on two discs.

DISC ONE - BLACULA 1972
U.S. film. Excellent quality. 16:9 aspect ratio. Dracula's soul brother rises in 1972! An 18th century African statesman is transformed into a vampire, cursed with the name Blacula, and entombed in Count Dracula's Castle after he fails to convince the Count to support him in his cause to end the slave trade. Two hundred years later a coffin is purchased as part of an estate by two gay interior decorators and shipped to Los Angeles. They open the coffin and become the first victims. Upon close investigation of the corpses at the funeral home, Dr. Thomas notices oddities and concludes the deaths to be consistent with vampire folklore.

Terrific jump scare shocks. Old school funk/soul soundtrack and a cool scene in a dance club where the Hues Corporation perform "There He Is Again" while the crowd gets down! The music for Blacula is unlike that of most horror films as it uses soul/funk as opposed to haunting classical music. The film's soundtrack features a score by Gene Page and contributions by the Hues Corporation and 21st Century Ltd.

William Marshall, Denise Nicholas, Vonetta McGee, Gordon Pinsent, Thalmus Rasulala, Emily Yancy, Lance Taylor Sr., Logan Field, Ted Harris, Rick Metzler, Ketty Lester, Charles Macaulay, Ji-Tu Cumbuka, The Hues Corporation. William Marshall will also be remembered for his many TV appearances including as the King of Cartoons on Pee Wee's Playhouse and Dr. Richard Daystrom in the Star Trek episode, "The Ultimate Computer."
