WILD SCHEME A-GO-GO 1967
JPN. GS film. 1960s
Japanese Group Sounds band, the Spiders star in this rare, mod, mop-top, rock 'n' roll, garage-beat, musical romp. Here's a sample of what's going on: A jet lands in Tokyo, the Spiders arrive to wild fans. There's a big media crush and a press conference. Flashing scenes of concert performances. Next, a groovy mod girl is singing with a beat combo on TV then at a poolside setting.
The action gets pretty wild with Richard Lester-style (Help!) camera shots and editing. In addition to the Spiders, a few other GS groups perform. The music is excellent with a mix of Merseybeat style pop and garage band screamin' fuzz guitar.
Lots of Rickenbackers, Fenders, Gretches, and a Farfisa organ! Very cool Spiders performance scenes with groovy stage sets and mod bikini clad go-go dancers. Songs include "Furi Furi," "Summer Girl" and many others. [In Japanese. No Subtitles.]
Bonus Selections: Excerpt from "Rare Beatles Promo Films" and 1960s Japanese TV commercials.
