THE CHAPMAN REPORT 1962
U.S. film. Excellent quality. 16:9 widescreen. Inspired by the famous Kinsey Reports on sexual behavior. Dr. George C. Chapman, a famous psychologist, and his assistant, Paul Radford, arrive in a Los Angeles suburb to conduct a survey on the sex habits of American women. After their first lecture on the project, four women (Claire Bloom, Jane Fonda, Shelley Winters and Glynis Johns) volunteer as subjects and allow their sexual lives to be examined.
The four women are portrayed to have various sexual hang-ups. The viewer is presented a frigid type, a nymphomaniac-alcoholic, a bored housewife, and a flighty intellectual seeking enlightenment in romance.
In one of the four stories, the alcoholic nymphomaniac becomes involved with a jazz musician who allows his drunken friends to rape her at a party; she subsequently commits suicide.
In the end Dr. Chapman says that these four women's cases are the exceptions and that true love and marriage is the rule in the suburbs. Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Shelley Winters, Jane Fonda, Claire Bloom, Glynis Johns, Ray Danton, Ty Hardin, Andrew Duggan, Corey Allen, Cloris Leachman, Chad Everett, Norman Grabowski.
