Double Feature!

U.K. film. A British rock 'n' pop science fiction musical starring Olivia Newton-John. Space aliens from Alphoide discover that a new form of electronic harmony, (an antidote of curative vibrations that can save their vibration-dying world), are emanating from planet Earth! Translation: Space aliens dig the mid-60s rocking beat, harmony pop sounds of a rock group called, Toomorrow.

The group all live together in a funky house in Chelsea and play gigs to pay their way through the London College of Arts. Olivia Newton-John leads the group. Their organist Vic Cooper has invented a new instrument called the "tonaliser" whose sonic vibrations cause an extra-terrestrial to beam up the group to save the Alphoid population.

Lots of group performance scenes—their music has a "Boyce and Hart" kind of happy-pop-vibe with some psychedelic fuzz and groovy organ sounds. The whole film has a breezy feel—like a good episode of your favorite '60s half-hour TV sitcom.

Sophisticated swinging 60s soundtrack music by Hugo Montenegro (famous for the "I Dream Of Jeannie" TV theme song.) If you're looking to form your own sixties-inspired beat group, this film will give you some haircut and clothes ideas! Directed by Val Guest. Toomorow are: Olivia Newton-John, Ben Thomas, Karl Chambers and Vic Cooper.

The film was the brainchild of Don Kirshner, creator of The Monkees and The Archies. Kirshner's involvement was directly responsible for the pure-pop sound of the music. Toomorrow started production in 1967 but wasn't finished until 1970. Unfortunately, by 1970 the happy-harmony pop sounds of the mid-60s were hopelessly out-of-date. The new world order was really long hair, thick mustaches and boogie-jam hard rock.

Songs include: "You're My Baby Now," "Taking Our Own Sweet Time," "Toomorrow," "Let's Move On," "Walking On Air," "If You Can't Be Hurt," "Spaceport," "Happiness Valley," "Going Back."

Plus this bonus selection...

Olivia Newton-John on the Johnny Carson Show March, 1975. Olivia sings "Have You Never Been Mellow" and is interviewed by Johnny. Also, 1970s TV commercials.
