THE TEENAGE REVOLUTION 1965
U.S. TV documentary special. Excellent quality. 4:3 aspect ratio. This fascinating report on mid 1960s youth culture and the changing American society reveals that there is now a teenaged society that is separate and distinct from adult society.

Young adults in their early 20s say that the new teenagers, that is, kids ages 15-18, live in a world of tension and great anxiety—they're in a rush for everything. Drinking and sex starts in the 8th grade. Attitudes, fashion, music and style are changing rapidly. One girl says music is changing so fast her record collection keeps getting bigger and bigger. (We like her!)

Teenagers are interviewed inside the Sunset Strip club, "It's Boss." Cool footage of 1960s dancing, fashion, surfing, hairstyles, pranks, music, etc. A Teen Fair introduces new guitars, cars, clothes and teen magazines.

In depth segments look at various aspects of teenage culture. A terrific segment on Phil Spector shows him in his mansion and at Gold Star studios. There's a cool segment on the garage band, "The Amazing Bushmen." The camera follows them on the road, changing clothes in gas stations and playing gymnasium gigs.

We see a brilliant high school science student and an unemployed dropout hanging out in a pool hall. There's a segment at a Teen Center were a "popular girls club" called Les Cheries, holds its meetings. Some of these girls are very shallow! Too much cool stuff to list! This is a highly recommended documentary on mid-60s teenage culture.

Note: There is time code (thin font) in the center, mid-bottom of the screen. But because of the film's excellent quality and fantastic subject matter, it absolutely does not ruin the viewing experience.

The film is loaded with terrific interviews from some of the major faces of the Melbourne scene including pop singer Lynne Randell, model Jenny Ham, singing duo Bobby & Laurie, poet Adrian Rawlins and band manager David Flint.

Priceless footage of Melbourne in '66 includes: fashions, music scenes, shops, radio stations, drag races and discotheques. There are also some brilliant music clips of the Loved Ones performing.
