GET CRAZY 1983
U.S. film. Widescreen. Letterbox. Excellent quality. What do you call a rock and roll movie that stars Lou Reed, Howard Kaylan (the Turtles), John Densmore (the Doors), Bobby Sherman (60s-70s teen idol) and Fabian (50s teen idol)? We're not exactly sure, but we'll keep watching until we figure it out.

Get Crazy is a musical comedy that depicts the 15th annual New Year's Eve concert at the fictitious Saturn Theater, and satirizes the rock business and several rock and roll stereotypes. The film is also a tribute to the Fillmore East Theater in New York City.

Colin Beverly is an evil, industry-mogul, concert promoter who wants to tear down the famous Saturn Theater and replace with a high-rise office building. He plans to sabotage the 1983 New Year's Eve concert of small-time operator Max Wolfe. Wolfe's assistants Neil Allen and Willie Loman find romance while trying to save the drugs, violence and rock and roll from Beverly's schemes

The various performers include: Captain Cloud (the Turtles' Howard Kaylan) and the Rainbow Telegraph, who arrive in an aging bus that is painted like the Merry Pranksters' "Further." Nada (Lori Eastside from Kid Creole and the Coconuts) and her 15-member band, is an amalgam of many disparate styles of music that appeared on MTV in the early 1980s—bubble-gum pop, new wave, garage rock. They are joined by "Special Guest Star" Piggy (Lee Ving of the L.A. punk band Fear).

King Blues, the King of the Blues (Bill Henderson), is a spoof of Muddy Waters. Auden (Lou Reed), a "metaphysical folk singer and antisocial recluse", is a spoof of Bob Dylan. Reggie Wanker (Malcolm McDowell), "20 years of rock and roll and still on top," is a spoof of Mick Jagger. His drummer Toad is played by John Densmore of The Doors.

Malcolm McDowell didn't read the whole script when he accepted the role. When he arrived for filming, he was shocked when another actor asked him how he planned to play the conversation with his penis! Malcolm McDowell, Allen Garfield, Daniel Stern, Gail Edwards, Miles Chapin, Ed Begley Jr., Lou Reed, Howard Kaylan, John Densmore, Bobby Sherman, Fabian, Dick Miller, Clint Howard, Franklyn Ajaye, Lori Eastside, Lee Ving, Robert Picardo, Stacey Nelkin, Bill Henderson. Get Crazy.

EXCERPTS FROM PRIMITIVE LONDON 1965
U.K. film. A "Mondo" film that captures the seedy side of London in the mid-60s. But there's much more…particularly for aficionados of 1960s rock and roll and youth culture. Yeah.
