GO ASK ALICE 1973
U.S. TV movie. A classic kids-getting-into-drugs-at-school movie! This is the true story of a shy, overweight teenage girl who, in an attempt to be popular, hangs out with the wrong crowd and takes drugs. In no time at all Alice goes from being a "nice girl" to comfortably fitting in with drug pushers, pimps and prostitutes.

As Alice takes LSD we hear the Traffic song, "Dear Mister Fantasy." Wow man. The movie ends with a freeze frame of Alice poised to start a new school year as her mother's voice-over informs us that Alice died of "an overdose of drugs" shortly after her 16th birthday.

Jamie Smith Jackson, Mackenzie Phillips, William Shatner, Andy Griffith, Julie Adams, Wendell Burton, Robert Carradine, Jennifer Edwards, Ruth Roman. Go Ask Alice.

Plus this bonus selection...

THE WORLD TOMORROW: LSD 1967
U.K. film. This is a fascinating U.K. television documentary on the widespread use of LSD in America. Artists describe how LSD influences their art. A small child accidently takes six doses and his mother describes what happened. We visit a Francisco Hospital where freak-out patients describe their bad trip. A very fascinating segment follows a French woman to Timothy Leary’s Millbrook, NY estate to experience the LSD religion.
