Produced by Petersen Publishing Co. and narrated by a young Dick Enberg, The Hot Rod Story features drag racing personalities of the 1960s including Connie Kalitta, Ed "Ace" McCulloch, Tony Nancy, Don Prudhomme, Tom McEwen and others. The stars and their magnificent cars were gathered for the 1965 edition of the Hot Rod Magazine Drags, held annually in those days at Riverside Raceway, the storied racing facility just east of Los Angeles.

In addition to the drivers interviewed there are cameo appearances by Dick Landy and other legends that helped raise the sport to the levels it achieved during the 1960s and beyond. Look for: teams thrashing in the pits, classic tow vehicles like old station wagons, El Caminos, and Cadillacs pulling cars into the course and you’ll even see Bob Petersen himself handing out trophies in the winner's circle.
