The 1960s Pop Art scene is explored via documentary films that showcase the artists, their sensibilities, their works of art and how the consumer society interprets and inspires their creations.

A RESOUNDING POP 1969
An overview of the 1960s American pop art scene. It is said that all the materials of the real world are your art materials, everything you pick up has an expressive power. Commercial culture fuels pop art ideas and sensibilities. Interviews and pop art analysis of Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein, George Segal, and James Rosenquist. Warhol in the Factory with hangers-on including Jane Fonda.

POP GOES THE EASEL 1962
Pop Goes the Easel focuses on four British pop artists: Peter Blake, Peter Philips, Pauline Boty and Derek Boshier. (In 1967 Peter Blake designed the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band LP cover.) This striking film captures the excitement and energy of the pioneering young Pop artists. In the film, a 29-year old Peter Blake explores his passion for pop icons, such as Elvis, Fabian, Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot. Pauline Boty, Britain’s great female pop art painter, performs in a short dramatic dream piece. Look for the wild "twist" session to Clay Cole's "Twist Around the Clock."

JOE TILSON POP ART 1964
Joe Tilson became one of the leading figures associated with the British Pop Art movement during the 1960s. The artist talks about gaining inspiration for his work from the modern world around him; including neon signs, advertising hoardings and posters.

ROY LICHTENSTEIN POP IDOL
Fascinating look at the lasting appeal of Roy Lichtenstein, the art world's very own Pop Idol. From unsuccessful Abstract Expressionist to inventive Pop Art champion, Roy Lichtenstein transformed the art world with his large, daring, aggressive cartoon images of American culture. Well before Andy Warhol created his Campbell's soup can art, Lichtenstein was making merchandise into art and promoting his own enduring brand.
