THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY 1971
U.S. TV show. "Don't Bring Your Guns to Town, Santa." Dec-17-71. After performing in Las Vegas on Christmas Eve, the Partridges begin their drive home. The bus breaks down and they are stranded in a deserted ghost town whose sole resident is lonely old prospector who tells the story of the silver bell, and how it helped to guide Santa Claus to their town every year. Songs: "The Christmas Song," "Winter Wonderland," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." At the end the cast breaks the fourth wall and wishes the TV audience a Merry Christmas.

HAPPY DAYS 1974
U.S. TV show. "Guess Who's Coming to Christmas." Dec-17-74. Ritchie secretly sees Fonzie heating a can of ravioli for his Christmas Eve meal and asks his dad if they can invite him to their house. The Fonz doesn't want them to know he'll be alone on Christmas and says he can only stay a minute because he's catching a late bus to big gathering out of town. After the Fonz fixes the tree lights he's told he missed the bus. He decides to stay and as they sit around the dinner table they ask him to say the Christmas prayer. He looks uncomfortable for a minute, then bows his head and says, "Hey God, Thanks." Classic!

WELCOME BACK, KOTTER 1977
U.S. TV show. "Sweathog Christmas Special." Dec-15-77. As the Kotters decorate their apartment for Christmas (aren't they Jewish?), the Sweathogs show up, and Mr. Woodman too! While they help decorate they reminisce about past episodes and Christmas memories. Yup, it's a "clip" show.

THE ODD COUPLE 1970
U.S. TV show. "Scrooge Gets An Oscar." Dec-17-70. Felix is planning to direct a stage play of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol for charity. He casts his poker buddies in each of the roles and wants his roommate Oscar to play the character of Ebenezer Scrooge. But Oscar is uncooperative this Christmas. Stressed out and bothered by his painful ulcer condition, Oscar falls asleep in front of the TV and begins the familiar nightmare. During Oscar's Christmas dream, he grouchily says, "I'd like to get a giant candy cane and beat the wings off a Sugarplum Fairy."
