HOT ROD (a.k.a. REBEL OF THE ROAD) 1979
U.S. TV film. Excellent hot rod film with lots of 1950s rock 'n' roll. ABC-TV Friday Night Movie of the week. A good guy, saxophone-playing hot rodder versus a crooked businessman who's out to fix the races. Look for tons of racing action at the fictional "Munn's Root Beer Drag Race Nationals" held in Lyons, California (the racing scenes were filmed at Fremont, CA). Every competitor that refuses to run a Munn's decal on his car gets pulled over and jerked around by the corrupt local police.

Here's a sampling of the boss autos you'll see: 1965 Plymouth two-door hardtop powered by a 426-Hemi; 1969 Olds Cutlass, Primer-grey 1941 Willys, 1948 Austin; mid-'70s Funny Cars, Camaros and Mustangs, also several Top Fuel cars. Plus quick scenes of a 1965 Chevy Nomad plus lots of old Fords; Model As, several '32s, a red 1940 Woody and more.

Just some of the great songs heard on the soundtrack include: Fats Domino: "I'm Gonna Be a Wheel Someday." Barrett Strong: "Money." Little Richard: "Jenny, Jenny." Jan and Dean: "Tennessee." Jerry Lee Lewis: "Great Balls of Fire." Don & Dewey: "Leaving It Up To You." Del-Vikings: "Come Go With Me." Bobby Fuller Four: "I Fought The Law." Martha and the Vandellas: "Dancing in the Street. Also, live rock 'n' roll band Jerry Zaremba and the Superchargers play "Hot Rod Rock" and Eddie Cochran's, "Something Else."

Hot Rod features tons of cool cars, similar to the movie, Heart Like A Wheel, but also features footage of the now-vanished dragstrip at Lyons, CA. Gregg Henry, Pernell Roberts, Robin Mattson, Grant Goodeve, Ed Begley Jr., Robert Culp, Royce D. Applegate, Topo Swope.

Plus these bonus selections...

1964 FORD TOTAL PERFORMANCE
U.S. Auto promotional film aimed at dealers and suppliers (and gear heads!). Features NASCAR driver Curtis Turner who explains all the benefits of Ford's engineering developments. Lots of motor eye candy.

1966 CORVAIR TV COMMERCIAL
U.S. TV. This commercial is aimed at the happy-go-lucky youth generation of 1966. They are told that, "Corvair is a fun car, for fun lovers" (and for those with a death wish)!
