BLESS THE BEASTS & CHILDREN 1971
U.S. film. As if being a teenager isn't difficult enough, imagine being socially awkward, emotionally troubled and having self-absorbed, negligent parents who dump you off at a sleep away camp for the entire summer.

Bless The Beasts & Children follows six misfit teenaged boys who come from as far away as New York City to Box Canyon Western Camp in Arizona. Each boy having originally been assigned to one of six cabins, are quickly outcast by the other campers, and find themselves together in one cabin.

One of the boys breaks into their counselor's footlocker and finds alcohol, cigarettes and pornography. They then blackmail the counselor into taking them to a ranch where they witness a canned hunt of bison. The hunters sit or stand along a fence, while shooting at the fenced-in, nearly tame bison. When the boys return, thoroughly disgusted at the slaughter, they decide to break out of camp that night to stop the canned hunt.

The Carpenters sing the theme song. The instrumental, "Cotton's Dream," later became known as "Nadia's Theme" when it was used as the opening to the soap opera, "The Young and the Restless." Cool footage of Route 66 going through Prescott, Arizona – old buildings, signage and cars adds to the cool factor. The film stars a 17-year old Bill (Billy) Mumy who had previously starred in the 1960s pop culture TV series, "Lost In Space."

Other filming locations: Hidden Valley Ranch and Jerome, Arizona. Bill Mumy, Barry Robins, Miles Chapin, Darel Glaser, Bob Kramer, Marc Vahanian, Jesse White, Ken Swofford, Elaine Devry, David Ketchum, Vanessa Brown, Wayne Sutherlin, William Bramley.
