HOW TO FORM A GROUP ...ON TV! 1960s

Five classic U.S. TV shows where everybody joins a groovy rock n roll singing group!

ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW
"Opie's Group." Nov-6-67. Opie joins a beat combo called "The Sound Committee" -- they rock! Clifford tells Opie he can't act like a kid anymore by saying things like "Oh Boy," and "Neato." In no time he's a hip dude grooving on the scene and making time with the cool chicks!

MY THREE SONS
"Liverpool Saga." Dec-23-67. Chip rehearses his "beat combo" in the living room and Uncle Charlie flips out! They can't decide on a group name—The Ear Splitters, The Electric Invaders, or The Dynamiters. A Liverpudlian is responsible for them winning the battle-of-the-bands. Featuring Jeremy Stuart (half of Chad & Jeremy) as the guitar playing longhair from Liverpool.

FARMER'S DAUGHTER
"Moe Hill and the Mountains." Jan-7-1966. Cool rock n roll and music industry satire featuring future Monkee, Davy Jones! The kids form a group, wear Beatle wigs and record a song called "Gonna Buy Me A Dog." (The Monkees later record the same song!) Very cool episode!

GIDGET
Gidget's Career." Jan-20-66. Gidget joins a group. They audition for a teenage music TV show and get the gig! Gidget decides to change the group's image—they become "Gidget and the Gories!" They wear Beatle wigs, green ghoul makeup and rock out 1960s style! The band rocks!

PATTY DUKE SHOW
"Partying Is Such Sweet Sorrow." Sep-29-65. Patty fronts a rock n roll group—The Shindogs! Patty sings "I'm Henry VIII, I Am" and "Funny Little Butterflies," The Shindogs (house band for "Shindig" with Elvis' James Burton on lead guitar) perform "Hard Rock" and "Rock On."
