Double Feature!
AROUND THE BEATLES 1964
U.K. TV show. Apr-28-64. The rare and complete (not excerpts) U.K. television program. Features the Beatles acting in a very silly Shakespearean spoof of the Interlude section of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” They perform complete versions of “Twist and Shout,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” “I Wanna Be Your Man,” “Long Tall Sally” and “Can't Buy Me Love.” They also perform a medley of “Love Me Do,” “Please Please Me,” “From Me To You,” “She Loves You” and “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” Other performers on the program include: P.J. Proby (“Walking’ the Dog,” “Cumberland Gap,” “I Believe.”) Long John Baldry (“Lover Please,” “Movin’ On,” “Got My Mojo Working.”) Murray the K does his hipster routine and introduces Cilla Black (“Saved,” “You’re My World” and “Heatwave.”) Millie Small (“My Boy Lollipop.”) The Vernons Girls (“Money” and “Hit The Road Jack.”) Other artists include: Andre’ Tayir, Trevor Peacock, The Jets and Sounds Incorporated.
