THE BEACH BOYS: AN AMERICAN FAMILY 2000 - Part 1 & 2
U.S. film. Two-part TV mini-series. This is the best film to date on the Beach Boys rise to fame (and Brian Wilson's mental breakdown). The film has an excellent look and feel—it very much captures a naïve early 1960s southern California. Cool scenes of the band rehearsing, recording and on tour. See the birth of several of the Beach Boys' hit songs. Brian's fascination with Phil Spector, Van Dyke Parks, the Beatles and LSD! Cool recording studio scenes with the "Wrecking Crew." Murry Wilson was one of the worst fathers…ever! Damn! Dennis Wilson gets involved with Charles Manson. Murry records the "Sunrays." Brian's pain in recording "Pet Sounds" and "Smile." The film ends in the mid-70s. Kevin Dunn, Frederick Weller, Matt Letscher, Ryan Northcott, Ned Vaughn, Alley Mills, Nick Stabile, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Dublin James, Jesse Caron. Note: Due to the extended length of this film, it comes on 2-discs and is not available on VHS. The Beach Boys: An American Family!
