ECHOES OF THE SIXTIES 1978

ECHOES OF THE SIXTIES 1978
U.S. TV special. Jul-25-79. "The 1960s was a crazy party, and it moved fast." –Donovan.
This somewhat amateurish yet surprisingly interesting TV documentary hosted by John Ritter, Suzanne Somers, and Twiggy traces 1960s rock and roll music from Liverpool to Woodstock. Blends vintage 60s pop culture footage, 1970s reunion performances with interviews of artists reminiscing on the 60s. Some of the interviews are quite good. Twiggy visits Liverpool for a lengthy segment on Mersey Beat, then Carnaby Street for a look at 1960s fashion. Lots of iconic 60s footage. The "60s party" went from good-time pop music and drugs to civil rights and Vietnam. Interviews for this special include: Brian Wilson (rambling to a confused-looking John Ritter!), Gerry Marsden, Alan Price, Marianne Faithfull, Donovan, Micky Dolenz, Bobby Sherman, Sonny Bono, Malcolm McDowell, Mary Travers and others.

Mid-seventies group performance footage include: Gerry and the Pacemakers: "Ferry Cross the Mersey," "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying." The Searchers: "Needles and Pins," "Love Potion #9." The Association: "Windy," "Cherish." The Four Tops: "Baby I Need Your Loving," "Reach Out I'll Be There." Dionne Warwick: "Say A Little Prayer," "Walk On By." Alan Price: "I Put a Spell on You." Frankie Valli: "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You." Jose Feliciano: "Light My Fire," "In My Life." Donovan: "Universal Solder." Mary Travers: "The Times They Are a Changin'.

Bonus Selection: A groovy assortment of 1960s rock and roll and youth culture movie trailers.
