THE GIRL IN BLACK STOCKINGS 1957
U.S. film. Everyone has a secret, but whose secret is murder? Interesting film noir, serial killer, murder mystery set at a resort hotel in Kanab, Utah. One evening as everyone is partying around the pool a couple discovers the body of a dead playgirl in the bushes. The sheriff, who plays detective, announces that, "a girl was slaughtered and cut up like a side of beef tonight," as he begins questioning the hotel guests. Everyone seems more than capable of being the killer.

The hotel owner who is a bitter, mean, wheelchair-bound quadriplegic admits that he hated the playgirl and says her murder is an example of a totally justifiable homicide, but adds that he had nothing to do with her death. Or did he? Then a drunken Indian finds the murder weapon and suddenly he's a suspect. Before long there are more viscous murders and more suspects.

Mamie Van Doren is terrific as a buxom, drunken victim. When the sheriff sees her dead body he declares that, "she's been cut up like a jig saw puzzle." Dan Blocker (Hoss from Bonanza) plays a sweaty, leering bartender. A very youthful, pre Oscar, Anne Bancroft plays a switchboard operator.
