THE EARLY WORM GETS THE BIRD 1940. Mammy blackbird puts her three little ones to bed, but one of them stays up reading "The Early Bird Catches the Worm." SEPTEMBER IN THE RAIN 1937. In a grocery store the characters on product labels come to life. Much of the cartoon features characters in blackface. Satire of then-contemporary culture including Al Jolson, Fats Waller and Louis Armstrong. JUNGLE JITTERS 1938. The adventures of a timid door-to-door salesman. Blacks portrayed as cannibals. THE ISLE OF PINGO PONGO 1938. A parody of 1930s travelogues full of black stereotypes and swinging "jungle music." Dig the Mills Brothers/Louis Armstrong impressions! LIFE BEGINS FOR ANDY PANDA 1939. Andy Panda's cartoon debut. Black African natives portrayed with bones in their hair, etc. AFRICA SQUEAKS 1940. Porky Pig, Spencer Tracy, Kay Kaiser and Jerry Colonna are swinging with the natives in "Darkest Africa." ALL THIS AND RABBIT STEW 1941. Bugs Bunny torments a not-too-bright hunter. Many southern black stereotypes. HAVE YOU GOT ANY CASTLES 1938. A combination musical revue and books-come-alive satire. Cab Calloway, Fats Waller and Louis Armstrong. GOOFY GROCERIES 1941. A musical revue set in a grocery store. Blackface characters. SCRUB ME MAMA WITH A BOOGIE BEAT 1941. Lazy black folks are napping and attracting flies. Then a riverboat arrives with a red hot "Lena Horne-type" mama on board. Soon she has everyone moving to a Harlem boogie-woogie beat, dancing, scrubbing clothes, and eating watermelon. CLEAN PASTURES 1937. Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, The Mills Brothers and others are caricatured doing their part to take swing music out of the hands of the devil and use it to save souls with the magic of jazz and boogie-woogie. GOLDILOCKS AND THE JIVIN' BEARS 1944. A sexy black lindy-hoppin' Goldilocks cuts a rug with the Big Bad Wolf to the raucous accompaniment of the Three Bears Jazz Band!
