U.S. documentary. The rise and fall of Sal Mineo "The Switchblade Kid." Tons of rare footage including 1950s TV show, Edward R. Murrow's "Person To Person." Sal tried to be like is idol and friend James Dean, then couldn't escape the type cast JD roles Hollywood offered to him. Forced out of mainstream movies, Sal turned to television, then weird movies. Out of the closet and down on his luck, he tried producing avant-garde films. At the age of 37 he was killed in a botched robbery attempt. Poor Sal!
