INCIDENT IN AN ALLEY 1961
U.S. film. Rare JD crime drama. Story by Rod Serling. A gang of JD hoods break into a music store to steal some instruments. They knock out the cleaning lady who unexpectedly shows up. In no time the police are searching for the punks. Two patrol officers find the gang in an alley and during a scuffle a boy runs away, gun shots are fired, and a few seconds later there's a 14-year old boy lying dead in the alley.

A crowd converges in the alley, including the boy's hysterical mother, to try to piece together the events that led to the killing. The police department interrogates the cop as to why he shot a boy in the back; the cop's superiors decide to back his story to take the heat off the department. The media gets involved and tells a different story—an innocent boy was killed by a cop!

Then, in the tradition of similar JD films like "The Young Savages" and "The Boys," the film's action centers on the courtroom proceedings that try to determine the true facts of the case. We learn that the shooting officer's father was killed by a hoodlum when the cop was only 11-years old. The officer has trouble reconciling his action with his inner feeling towards hoodlums. He goes back to the scene of the killing and replays the events in his head.

Next, a hipster beatnik musician scores a new axe from a shady seller—turns out it's one of the stolen instruments from the music store. Then the cleaning lady dies, the JD gang begins hunting for the cop, and the story twists and turns further.
