Double Feature!
TRIBES (a.k.a. THE SOLDIER WHO DECLARED PEACE) 1970
U.S. film. A long-haired, hippie, peacenik, flower child gets drafted into the Marines. This is one of those really intense drill-instructor-screaming-in-your-face movies! Despite being forced to endure the torture of a Marine buzz-cut, the hippie remains rebellious. The nail-hard drill instructor is determined to "break" the hippie and transform him into a lean, mean fighting machine. Meanwhile the hippie meditates, stands on his head, and begins to have an influence on the rest of the recruits. This, of course, drives the drill instructor crazy! In the end, the drill instructor’s view of life is changed. Hooray for the hippie! Jan-Michael Vincent, Darren McGavin, Earl Holliman, Tracy Keenan Wynn, Marvin Schwartz, Danny Goldman, John Gruber, Peter Hooten, David Buchanan. Tribes!
