U.S. film. JD teenage beatnik drug movie meets Dragnet! Classic heroin movie! The Narcotics Squad is searching for a teenage junkie and uncovers a small town festering with high-school hipsters eager to get Hooked on heroin! A high school athlete looses interest in sports and instead spends his time carousing local jukes joint looking for a fix. At the juke joint a fantastic dope-inspired jazz/rhythm & blues band wails on a boogie tune while the sax man contorts his face and scats his brains out in a manner very similar to Harry "The Hipster" Gibson. Also, a lanky beatnik babe warbles the blues tune, "Baby Have Yourself a Time." The Narcotics Squad sends in two undercover agents to bust up the dopers. Lots of hipster lingo and teens begging for dope. Excruciating scene of cold turkey heroin withdrawal. Lots of good advice on where to hide your stash! You know it's a classy picture when the end credits list the characters as "Hoodlum," "Pusher," "Addict," and "Coroner!" Regis Toomey, Paul Kelly, Cathy Downs, Jack Edwards, Byron Foulger, Larry Getz, Michael Henry. Hooked!

U.S. educational film. "Youth is a happy time!" Marty is a clean-cut 50s teen who gives in to peer pressure and starts smoking reefers. Before you know it, he's a shooting the deadly white powder—Heroin! Then comes Marty's downward spiral of losing his job, losing weight, worrying his parents, getting snubbed by the clean teens, stealing to support his habit, and finally becoming a drug pusher. Eventually he gets arrested but after he gets out of rehab, all the nice teens reject him and he has to deal with pressure from his old junkie pals to start using again. Yes, youth is a happy time!
