Double Feature!

JAMES BROWN'S FUTURE SHOCK 1976
U.S. TV show. This disc features two complete episodes. "Future Shock cannot be stopped!" In 1975, James Brown's production company, Third World Enterprises, produced a dance and music television show hosted by James, that was similar in look and feel to the very popular, Soul Train.

Future Shock was videotaped in Atlanta, Georgia and broadcast late on Friday nights on the Ted Turner-owned UHF station WTCG-17, it featured local kids performing a variety of popular and emerging dance styles, including disco, locking and popping, and early break dancing, to prerecorded music. Brown and his musical guests also performed. Other regular features included dance contests, interviews, and segments on black history.

James sports a thick black mustache and appears to be "high on something" as he slurs his words and unleashes a torrent of sweat that pours from his face. The hardest snorting man in show business. His guests seem visibly uneasy with James' behavior but go along for the ride—just as we do.

James says, "We're gonna do some dynamite things and blow your mind! Let's get it on! Are you ready to boogie? Hit it!" He talks about the show reaching global audience—down to Antigua and Bermuda—and he mentions "banana boat!" (!?)

Plus this bonus selection...

JAMES BROWN'S MANSION TOUR
A tour of James Brown's 60-acre mansion at Beech Island, South Carolina. The mansion is just as James left it on Christmas day, including a full tree and presents. A look at James' in-house beauty salon—he was very particular about how he looked. Fascinating.
