INSIDE POP - THE ROCK REVOLUTION 1967
U.S. TV special. Apr-25-67. 4:3 aspect ratio. In this CBS News report, Leonard Bernstein examines creativity in pop music of the mid 1960s. This is probably one of the first examples of pop music being examined as a "serious" art form.

In his discussion, Bernstein examines the following songs using recordings or piano renditions: the Beatles: "Good Day Sunshine" and "She Said She Said." The Left Bank: "Pretty Ballerina." The Monkees: "I'm a Believer." The Beatles: "Got to Get You Into My Life." Bob Dylan: "Mr. Tambourine Man." The Association: "Along Comes Mary." Janis Ian performs "Society's Child," which Bernstein discusses along with the Beatles' "Paperback Writer."

There is also an analysis of youth culture as the program continues with interviews with Jim (Roger) McGuinn of the Byrds, Frank Zappa, and Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits and Graham Nash of the Hollies. The Hollies perform "Bus Stop." Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys performs "Surf's Up," and Tim Buckley performs "No Man Can Find the War."

Terrific 1966 footage of Sunset Strip, Pandora's Box, and interviews with protesters. We'd like say this title is excellent quality, but unfortunately it's not. It is absolutely better than what can be viewed on the web. There is NO hum, NO out-of-synch audio and has better color and contrast.

Plus this bonus selection...

ALL MY LOVING - A FILM OF POP MUSIC 1968
U.K. TV documentary. Oct-1-68. Excellent quality. 16:9 widescreen. A very interesting documentary about how pop music has changed the world and how the world has changed pop music. Drugs, the Beatles, sex, fashion, the media, love, war and financial profit are all examined. Fantastic vintage footage assembled in a collage form creates a TV program as "mod" and "pop" as the music it describes. Note: There are some brief scenes of war footage that are not suitable for children or those of a delicate nature.
