WHAT'S SO BAD ABOUT FEELING GOOD? 1968
U.S. film. Excellent quality. 16:9 widescreen. By 1968 the psychedelic drug LSD had made enough headlines and been used by enough people that it started making its way into mainstream "grown up" films. Here it takes the form of a highly contagious virus that quickly spreads across New York City making the normal irritable and rude locals extremely happy, polite and filled with euphoria. In other words, by NYC standards, they have become "sick."

The film opens in a communal East Village, beatnik-hippie pad where former "straights" have dropped out of the mainstream to paint, wear disheveled clothes, grow beards and be free from the phoniness of the modern world.

Beatnik dropouts Pete and Liz catch the virus, get sick, and begin dressing well and spreading good will to all. Some people are immune to the virus but they catch a "contact high" and also become sick. The immediate decline in alcohol, cigarette, and tranquilizer sales alarms the city's officials, and fearing a collapse of the city's financial structure, the mayor enlists the support of the Federal government.

Lot's of great shots of New York City and a wild scene in a psychedelic Greenwich Village club called, "The Cesspool" that features rock and roll group, Scurvy Maggot and The Four Worms! George Peppard, Mary Tyler Moore, Don Stroud, Susan Saint James, Dom DeLuise, John McMartin, Charles Lane, Thelma Ritter.

Plus these bonus selections...

MISSING MUSICAL DANCE SCENE FROM WHAT'S SO BAD ABOUT FEELING GOOD? 1968
U.S. film. Missing from most editions of this film is an extended musical dance scene that includes lyrics which add more information to the understanding of the film's storyline.

PETTICOAT JUNCTION 1964
U.S. TV show. "Bobbie Jo and the Beatnik." Hillbilly existentialism! Dennis Hopper plays Alan Landman, a poetry-writing beatnik from New York City who stays a spell at the Shady Rest. During his visit he makes a big impression on Bobbie Jo Bradley. Everyone else thinks he's a phony; after all, his poems don't even rhyme. Bobby Jo starts to question the possible meaningless of her own conventional life.
