THE BEACH BOYS IN LONDON 1966 - RARE FOOTAGE
U.K. 16 millimeter film footage. This is a very entertaining and interesting look at the Beach Boys. The filmed footage is silent but we've added some rare and unique Beach Boys audio to accompany the film. The result is really good! And we're jaded!

First the film footage: captured in 1966 at the peak of the Beach Boys fame and Brian Wilson's creativity, we see the Beach Boys (with Bruce Johnston standing in for Brian who was back in LA mixing "Smile") in a variety of situations. They're in their dressing rooms smoking, tuning their instruments and talking with Andrew Loog Oldham. They're backstage and on stage performing at the Hammersmith Odeon. English pop stars are seen including Gordon Waller (Peter & Gordon). We see them in a clothing store trying on mod gear. They're in a music store, driving around London, and at a photo shoot in front of EMI Manchester Square. ("Please, Please Me" LP cover.) Several other scenes too.

The film's audio: During a Jan-65 recording session for "Help Me Rhonda" a drunken Murry Wilson (Brian, Carl and Dennis' dad) arrives at the studio and proceeds to commandeer the session with psychodrama and abusive direction. Brian kept the tape rolling and you hear lots of gems in addition to Murry being an overbearing dictator and telling Brian that he's a genius too. Other rare audio includes 60s TV interviews, Brian discussing his time as a recluse, and a funny attempt at creating a promo spot with Mike Love and Derek Taylor. Also, Brian directing the Wrecking Crew on Pet Sounds tracks.

Plus this bonus selection...
