STARDUST 1974
U.K. film. Excellent quality. 16:9 widescreen. Sequel to That'll Be The Day. Rare un-cut nude version. David Essex plays rock 'n' roll singer Jim Maclaine, whose sudden rise to fame as a 60s beatlesque pop star has enriched him beyond his wildest dreams. His perspective and sense of values skewered by sex, drugs and booze, Maclaine is outwardly successful but hollow inside.

Cool recording studio and on stage performance scenes. A look at the "inside" of the pop music industry with managers, promoters, studio producers and corporate executives all trying to create the "product" in their image. When the product is a person it gets interesting.

Lots of 1950s & 1960s rock 'n' roll music. Stardust has a teriffic look and feel and captures the vibe of the times. Keith Moon, Dave Edmunds, Adam Faith, Marty Wilde, Larry Hagman, Edd Byrnes. Nick Lowe appears in a scene. Two hours.

As someone who spent many years in the music business, I love this movie. The temptations, the ethics, the rise and fall. Engrossing and all too real. Great movie. (Larry Hagman creates his subsequent Dallas character in this movie.) (Posted on 6/22/17)

I love rock and roll, especially when i hear The Everly Brothers and Billy Fury etc. that is why i bought "STARDUST" to go with my DVD of "THAT'll BE THE DAY." I think rock and roll music is far better than today's music. I love the film's Teddy Boy clothes and the girl's dresses with their lovely white ankles socks with flat shoes. (Posted on 2/17/15)
