WILD SEED 1965
U.S. film. Two rebel youths bum their way across country. Daphne (Celia Kaye), an adopted 17 year-old New York City teenager runs away from home in search of her real father in Los Angeles. On the road, she hitch hikes a ride with a creepy pervert who tries to sexually assault her but she breaks free and runs, leaving all her possessions in the creep's car. She ends up at a roadside restaurant where she meets Fargo (Michael Parks), a young black leather-jacketed drifter.

Fargo lets Daphne travel with him and he teaches her how to survive on the road without money; including skinny dipping and hopping freight trains. One night they are caught in a railroad car and arrested, but are released when Fargo tells the cops that they're married. Daphne who was initially leery of Fargo begins to form a friendship with him…or maybe more.

In the end Daphne learns a big truth about her family and decides to stay with Fargo. Wild Seed is an interesting youth road film done in a pure late 1950s black & white JD style. Cool photography and soundtrack music. Michael Parks gives a great performance as a James Dean style rebel. If Wild Seed had been made in the 50s instead of at the dawn of the hippie era it would probably be a well-known film today. Michael Parks, Celia Kaye, Ross Elliott, Woody Chambliss, Rupert Crosse, Eva Novak, Norman Burton, Merritt Bohn, Al Lettieri. Wild Seed.

Plus this bonus selection...

A BALLAD FOR THE FAIR 1964
U.S. short film. Produced by the Bell System, A Ballad for the Fair gives a tour of the sights and sounds of the 1964-65 New York World's Fair with a heavy emphasis on communications technology. Canadian singer, Oscar Brand sings a folk song to describe the fair whose motto was Peace and Understanding.

Really, really good story of two youths who are perhaps star-crossed, and end up riding the rails together. From the East Coast to L.A. It's a wild and sometimes frightening journey and the film is beautiful, poignant, and very well-acted. Girls, put on your drool-bibs for an hour and a half of Michael Parks!! (Posted on 1/9/17)

Two weeks ago I ordered a DVD of "Wild Seed" starring Michael Parks and Ceilia Kaye. It was just as good as I remembered it when I was a kid in the 1960s. Thank you very much for this great video. (Posted on 10/20/14)
