BORN WILD (a.k.a. THE YOUNG ANIMALS) 1968
U.S. film. Psychedelic rock and roll, racial tensions and gang violence between White and Mexican teenagers at a small Arizona high school! A crew of white, snot-nosed, racist punks prey on a Mexican high school couple; they beat up the boy and rape the girl (and that's not the worst that happens to them!). Then the punks smoke a joint and everything's groovy. The cops and teachers in this town seem to all hate Mexicans. The film's producers must have gone through a truck load of Coppertone QT to keep all the fake Mexicans deep-tanned looking.

A new Mexican student, Tony (Tom Nardini), arrives on campus. He digs Janet (Patty McCormick) but she's a white girl and that's a big no-no in this town! Tony can't understand why all the Mexican kids all obey the racist white creeps so he organizes all the radical Mexicans to change the school politics. But of course the racist gringos fire bomb their meeting.

All the cool kids go to a teenage hangout where psychedelic rock band The American Revolution performs, "Love Has Got Me Down" accompanied by flashing colored lights, trippy camera angles and Vox guitars. Later, at a swinging pool party, the group The Orphan Egg wails on psych rocker "In Big Letters." Teenage violence, revenge and more revenge are served up in generous proportions! Tom Nardini (Cat Ballou) and Patty McCormick (The Bad Seed), David Macklin, Zooey Hall, Joanna Frank, Russ Bender, Sammy Vaughn.

Plus this bonus selection...

L.A. IN THE SIXTIES
Very cool footage of the swinging sixties in Los Angeles! Lots of famous celebrities shaking their butts off at Sunset Strip discotheques including Gazzarri's. Rock n roll group, the Sinners and the Gazzarri Dancers. Interesting interview with John Ashley and Harvey Lembeck (Beach Party films) discussing rock and roll and the Beatles! Elvis donates a check to the Motion Picture Relief Fund. A visit to a cool hot rod party. Lots more.
