SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING 1961
U.K. film. "Saturday night you have your fling at life...and Sunday morning you face up to it!" A classic working-class 'Brit Grit' drama. Arthur Seaton (brilliantly portrayed by Albert Finney), is a defiant youth who works in a gritty Nottingham factory and only lives for his wild drunken weekend exploits. "What I want is a good time, the rest is all propaganda." Saturday Night and Sunday Morning depicts a Britain in which the only things young men have to look forward to in life are work, booze, sex, and death. "Whatever people say I am, that's what I'm not." In one scene Arthur wins in a drinking contest while a band is rocking the pub.

In the end, he realizes he's fighting a losing battle as an affair with his co-worker's wife ends badly, and his aggressive attitude begins to alienate those around him. Arthur's best mate Bert is played by Norman Rossington who later played "Norm" the Beatles' manager in A Hard Days Night. Albert Finney, Shirley Anne Field, Rachel Roberts, Hylda Baker, Norman Rossington, Bryan Pringle, Robert Cawdron, Edna Morris, Elsie Wagstaff, Frank Pettitt, Avis Bunnage, Colin Blakely.
