BREAD (£$£$£$) 1971
U.K. film. A group of hippie friends (three guys and two girls) attend the 1970 Isle of Wight music festival (real festival footage) where they notice that the "straights" are selling stuff and making a profit on the hippies. Bummed out by this state of affairs, they split the festival and pitch a tent on the grounds of a mansion which is in need of repair.

The mansion's inebriated young owner sees the hippies on his property and brings them inside where he tells them he inherited the place, only stays on weekends, wants to sell, but it needs painting and would cost him a small fortune. Hippies to the rescue! They offer to paint the place cheap while the owner is away. He agrees.

The hippies try to figure how they can make money by having a mansion at their disposal and, at first, try to make a porn film but it doesn’t quite work out. Next, they decide to hold their own rock festival on the property. One of them poses as a music journalist and convinces a rock group manager to have his group perform. Soon other groups also agree.

The hippie festival rocks but nobody paid to get in and the mansion's owner shows up and flips out. Real-life British blues rock bands Juicy Lucy and Crazy Mable perform. Anthony Nigel, Peter Marinker, Dick Haydon, Noelle Rimmington, Liz White, Yokki Rhodes, Rock groups; Juicy Lucy, Crazy Mable.

PSYCHEDELIC STUDENT FILM 1972
U.K. film. A pulsating and bizarre assortment of sights, sounds and odd imagery coagulate to become a "trip on film." Very British in it's look and feel, not the complete hippie-vibe of America. Surprisingly ambitious production. Would make a perfect "midnight movie."

GETTING IT STRAIGHT IN NOTTING HILL GATE 1970
U.K. documentary. Hippie counter-culture film that tries to address the negative perceptions of London's Notting Hill (then a ghetto, now affluent posh). The film features British psychedelic-hippie rock group, Quintessence jamming at All Saints Church hall. Also, a look in the offices of "Release," which provided free legal assistance to hippies being hassled by the "fuzz."
