SEX KITTENS GO TO COLLEGE
(a.k.a. BEAUTY AND THE ROBOT) 1960
U.S. film. A bizarre teen-exploitation film featuring Mamie Van Doren as a super-genius! Conway Twitty sings the rockabilly number, "I Got a Gal and Mamie is Her Name." Robots, gangsters, hipster chimpanzees, strippers and an absolutely preposterous cast! Excellent quality!
This rare, un-cut version features a 10-minute nude striptease segment!
Collins College needs to hire a new Science Department Head so the professors ask the college's supercomputer robot, "Thinko," who would be the best candidate for the job. Thinko, the smartest supercomputer robot in the world, recommends Dr. Mathilda West, (a.k.a. former stripper, "Tassels Monclair"), played by, who else?...Mamie Van Doren!
Dr. West has extraordinarily high intelligence. She has 13 college degrees so naturally she would like to be appreciated for her intellect, but her male students (and the faculty) are too preoccupied by her gigantic breasts to hear a word she says.
There's a sort-of plot, but it doesn't matter because "Sex Kittens Go To College" feels more like an Ed D. Wood Jr. film than an Albert Zugsmith film. Look at this cast: Mamie Van Doren, Tuesday Weld, Mijanou Bardot, Mickey Shaughnessy, Martin Milner, Conway Twitty, Jackie Coogan, Louis Nye, Pamela Mason, John Carradine, Vampira, Norman "Woo Woo" Grabowski, Charles Chaplin Jr., Harold Lloyd Jr.
Note: Thinko is played by "Elektro," a one-of-a-kind robot built by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Elekro was presented at the New York World's Fair of 1939. He still survives and is kept at the Mansfield Memorial Museum, in Mansfield Ohio.
Bonus Selection: Ginchy 1950s TV commercials!
