PARRISH 1961
U.S. TV film. Excellent quality. Widesceen. Troy Donahue scores (really scores!) with the chicks...Connie Stevens, Diane McBain and Sharon Hugueny. Parrish is set in the world of tobacco farms, yet is still a story about youth rebelling from adult expectations, sexual awakening and searching for your place in the world.

Widow Ellen McLean and her son, Parrish, arrive at widower Sala Post's Connecticut tobacco farm, where Ellen has taken a position as chaperon to Sala's stubborn and flirtatious daughter, Alison. Sala resents the handsome young man's presence about the house because he doesn't want his daughter to get involved—and she's the type that might. Feeling the pressure and seeking independence, Parrish becomes a laborer in the tobacco fields where immediately he has an affair with a cute farm girl named Lucy. Soon thereafter he becomes romantically involved with Sala's daughter, Alison. When his mother marries unscrupulous tobacco tycoon Judd Raike, Parrish goes to work for him.

Soon Parrish gets caught up in the business battle between Sala and his main competitor Raike. Sala owns one of the last family farms that remain in the valley—Raike's corporation has swallowed the others up. Parrish also gets caught up in yet another romantic relationship, this time with Raike's daughter, Paige. Through a series of twist and turns an out-and-out battle develops between Parish and Raike, culminating with the Parrish's tobacco field being set on fire and knockout slugfest between Parish and Raike's son.

It's a bit of a soap opera but the characters are interesting and the beautiful color photography makes the film looks great! Troy Donahue, Claudette Colbert, Karl Malden, Dean Jagger, Connie Stevens, Diane McBain, Sharon Hugueny, Dub Taylor, Vincent Gardenia, Carroll O'Connor.
