MICKEY 1948
U.S. film. Mickey Kelly (Lois Butler) is a 15-yr old dirty-sneaker-wearing, baseball playing, fist fighting, tomboy who gets into more trouble than you'd expect from a 1948 teen movie. Mickey's father (Bill Goodwin) is a widower doctor pursued by a wealthy snob who plans on taking over after she becomes Mickey's stepmother. But other plans are in the works to get Dr. Kelly interested in widow neighbor Louise Williams (Irene Hervey).

Swell wholesome fun includes: to get Mickey out of her singing lessons the gang stands at the window chewing lemons to make Mickey's face grimace! Mickey beats up a Hank Evans (Skippy Homeier) on stage during a school performance. She soon realizes she has a crush on Hank. Dr. Kelly fails miserably (and humorously) while trying to explain the facts of life to Mickey.

Real keen, teen scene at the local malt shop where all the cool kids are having chocolate sundaes while a raucous boogie-woogie beat is playing. Black stereotypes are on display as Hattie McDaniel plays "Bertha," an Aunt Jeremiah-type housemaid who fires off wisecracks and dispenses sound advice to young Mickey.

Mickey is a wonderful time machine that will transport you to an era of teenage innocence that hasn't existed since Elvis shook his pelvis on TV. (No offense Elvis, we think you're the most!) Irene Hervey and Bill Goodwin would later reunite for the 1958 teen film, "Going Steady." Lois Butler, Bill Goodwin, Irene Hervey, John Sutton, Rose Hobart, Hattie McDaniel, Skip Homeier, Beverly Wills.

Plus these bonus selections...

THE SHOW OFF 1954

U.S. educational film. A class clown goes too far in the classroom by cracking jokes and purposely falling off a chair. Everyone is outraged at such shocking behavior.

THE SNOB 1958
U.S. educational film. All the cool kids are swing dancing at a party—all except Sarah who prefers doing homework on a Friday night. Yeah, she's a stuck-up snob all right. Or, maybe she's got self-esteem issues?
