THE LINEUP 1958
U.S. film. Excellent late '50s film noir movie set in San Francisco. An evil drug lord plants small amounts of heroin on unsuspecting tourists vacationing in Mexico, so that the dope traffic can pass through the border guards undetected.
Thanks to solid detective work, the scheme begins to unravel, resulting in a thrill-packed car chase through the hills of San Francisco with a child hostage as leverage against the cops!
Look for fantastic footage in and around the famous Sutro Baths while they were still in operation. Also, the Embarcadero Freeway is on display (good for studying bad highway design!) Many San Francisco landmarks are exquisitely filmed. It’s very interesting to see "then versus now." (You can play "name the location".)
Director Don Siegel later directed "Dirty Harry" but we think "The Lineup" is an even better "San Francisco movie."
Eli Wallach, Robert Keith, Warner Anderson, Richard Jaeckel, Mary LaRoche, William Leslie, Emile Meyer, Marshall Reed, Raymond Bailey, Vaughn Taylor, Cheryl Callaway, Bert Holland, George Eldredge, Robert Bailey. The Lineup!
