YOUR CHEATIN' HEART 1964
U.S. film. Excellent quality. 16:9 widescreen. The life story of country music legend Hank Williams. Considering the tremendous impact of Hank's contribution to not just county music, but all of music, you'd think there would be a dozen Hank biopics – but there aren't! There are only two and "Your Cheatin' Heart" is the best.

The story begins in 1930s Alabama where a young Hank learns to sing and play guitar from an elderly black man named, Teetot. Flash forward to an adult Hank who sings and plays guitar in a traveling medicine show. While on the road he meets hillbilly singers Audrey Shepherd and Shorty Younger. After they hear Hank sing they invite him to join their group.

Audrey, sees Hank's huge talent and secretly sends his song "Your Cheatin' Heart" to music publisher Fred Rose. At the same time, she and Hank marry. Fred Rose is impressed with Hank and gets him a gig on the Louisiana Hayride. Hank's popularity begins to soar, and he is invited to join the Grand Ole Opry.

Hank achieves fame and wealth, but his private life starts to fall apart; he becomes a heavy drinker, misses gigs, and alienates his friends. He stops performing altogether and goes on the road. Eventually, he quits drinking and Fred Rose gets him a booking, but Hank Williams, at the age of 29, dies in the back seat of a car while being driven to a concert on January 1, 1953.

Hank's wife, Audrey Williams was Technical Advisor. Hank Williams Jr., at age 15, dubbed all the vocals – and did a great job! Produced by the legendary Sam Katzman. Terrific cast includes: George Hamilton, Susan Oliver, Red Buttons, Arthur O'Connell, Shary Marshall, Rex Ingram, Bruno VeSota, Rex Holman, (Bruno and Rex starred in The Choppers!) Chris Crosby, Hortense Petra. If your impression of George Hamilton is that of an over-tanned, Hollywood lightweight, don't let that discourage you. He did a great job in this film. Your Cheatin' Heart!
