U.S. film. 17 year old Sal Mineo is fantastic in this film that was specially tailored for him. Filmed on location at the Bethesda Home for Boys in Savannah, Georgia, Mineo plays a lonely older orphan who befriends escaped convict. "Explosive youth – a little past 17 – nearly past saving."

U.S. documentary. The rise and fall of Sal Mineo "The Switchblade Kid." Tons of rare footage including 1950s TV show, Edward R. Murrow's "Person To Person." Sal tried to be like is idol and friend James Dean, then couldn't escape the type cast JD roles Hollywood offered to him. Forced out of mainstream movies, Sal turned to TV, then weird movies. Out of the closet he tried producing avant-garde films. At the age of 37 he was killed in a botched robbery attempt.
