THE WORLD TOMORROW - LSD 1967
U.K. film. This is a very rare and fascinating documentary on the widespread use of LSD in America circa 1967. It's ironic that the some of the very best 1960's American psychedelic-related film footage comes from Britain and not the USA. It's true...and this film is exceptional.

Amazing footage from the 1967 San Francisco, "Human Be-In" festival including interviews with Dr. Timothy Leary, Allen Ginsberg, Dr. Richard Alpert and anti-LSD champion Dr. Thomas Ungerleider.

The Grateful Dead perform and you can hear them discussing how to set up their equipment while Dr. Timothy Leary speaks to the crowd. Artists describe how LSD influences their approach to art. A small child accidently takes six doses and his mother describes what happened. We visit a San Francisco Hospital where freak-out patients describe their bad trips.

A very fascinating segment follows a French woman to Dr. Timothy Leary's Millbrook, NY estate to experience the LSD religion. There is some fascinating footage from inside the mansion.

A suburban Colorado housewife with three children drops acid every two weeks. She describes how LSD helps her better understand her own life. We then watch her, her husband and their suburban adult friends take acid, get high and describe the effects. Highly recommended.

Plus this bonus selection...

HOFFMANN'S POTION - THE EARLY YEARS OF LSD 2002
CAN documentary. Discovered in 1943 by Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann, D-lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) was first used by researchers as a powerful tool to help unlock the mysteries of the human mind. It was considered an effective tool to treat alcoholism and drug addiction; it was also used to better understand the nature of schizophrenia and other mental illnesses.

While researchers were establishing the medical benefits of LSD, others - like author Aldous Huxley - promoted the drug as a powerful tool for mental exploration and self-nderstanding. At Harvard, Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner and Ram Dass (then known as Richard Alpert) became popular heroes after the university cancelled their research project into psychedelics. Fascinating 1950s film footage of clinical LSD research in the treatment of schizophrenia.
