CAPTAIN MILKSHAKE 1970
U.S. film. Excellent quality. Letterbox. This psychedelic anti-war "midnight movie" features hippies, drugs, trippy light shows, sex, rock 'n' roll, and a groovy experimental filmmaking process! The film follows the exploits of a square U.S. Marine on emergency leave who learns to "turn-on" with a beautiful hippie flower child.

Paul Fredericks is on emergency leave from Vietnam to attend the funeral of his stepfather. When he arrives in San Diego he's given a lift by college student Melissa Hamilton who is a member of a hippie commune and is on her way to meet Thesp, the commune's leader.

Paul digs Melissa so he joins her and her friends and smokes marijuana for the first time. Paul joins Melissa and Thesp (who is a drug dealer) on a "holiday" in Mexico – but it's actually a smuggling run. Lot's of stoners smoking weed...man!

Portions of the film were shot on a two camera 3-D system. The creative concept was to heighten the reality of Vietnam by shooting all action war sequences in 3-D and color. The "other world" reality of the U.S. was shot flat and in black and white. Filmed in San Diego, the movie includes scenes of Crystal Pier, Balboa Park, Vacation Village, La Jolla Cove, and Pacific Beach.

TOM 1972
U.S. educational short. Tom is an intellectual longhair, hippie, drop-out who does all the usual early 1970s hippie things like, smoking week, dropping acid and hanging out with other hippies like him.

Tom is into self-realization. He likes to make pottery (I guess most things having to do with pot are cool with Tom!) He gives a demonstration on how to properly prepare and take peyote. Then he and his friends draw stars on each other's faces. Warning: you might get a contact high watching this film!
